Isms

I figured out recently about a new phenomenon- more and more people attributing what counted as genuine goodness to be just an 'ism'. Loyalism, niceism etc.
It's like saying, hey that guy is blue- not red...
Whilst its very nice to view everything very objectively without essentially attributing good-bad labels to it, its just a bit hard for me to question my lifelong beliefs this time.
I used to think, if you went out of your way to help someone, did something about it proactively, that's good- well, not quite according to our new set of assumptions. Its just that I am being a niceist. Nice!
Who knows what's more to come- walking-without-bumping-into-peopleism, smiling-when-someone-smiles-at-you-ism, jeez! Let me stick to breath-through-all-of-it-and-you-wont-die-ism...
Yeah, its me sulking, I will come in terms with it though...I believe in theory of evolution more than any of my beliefs ;)

Domains

Just back from a trip back home. It was a short one but a very relaxing one nonetheless.
Although, I couldn't meet many of my friends. Priyanka just sent me an IM saying 'Welcome back.' Ironic- I thought considering she lives in India and I am back to Jersey now, but then, so right in a way!

Its like you have two domains- one for physical presence where you 'do' everything you have to do and another more real than the physical presence, where you can 'be'.
I am not at any rush to shop, go to bank, make social visits etc in here...I can chat to my friends one to one without having to worry about nitty gritty like rice boiling on the stove, Manu being a pickle or bai needs to be paid.

What would we have done without the internet!!

Animagi-Harry Potter

Remember Animagis from Harry Potter? Sirius Black who was a big black dog, Jack Potter, the white horse? If I could have an animal alter-ego, what would it be? A black cat! Wild, enigmatic, elegant, fearsome at times yet sexy in it's own way. She purrs when happy, curves her back when walking, extremely cautious and agile...I am in love with the animal!

Tax- So taxing!

I see the point behind taxation system, government has to maintain the public properties, road systems, primary schooling, health care and so on. But can I have exemption on that part of tax which pays out the allowance to people who sit at home please? It's like having to pay food bill for perfect strangers. I am not sure that's the kind of charity I would like to do. Like there is any kind of charity I believe in :)

Government can call it any kind of crap like these people form a society which gives you enriched life, and you cannot put a price on that. Well, firstly, such people cannot enrich anything, they are leeches, they are parasites.

I have an autistic son, fate forbid, if he isn't capable enough to earn for himself when he grows, I would make it my responsibility to leave behind enough money to pay for his life. I cannot see myself counting on benefits from the states! Wish more people would think so :(

God for dummies

I was thinking today as to why Hinduism believes in so many Gods...a few thoughts
  • Religion for dummies: It's hard to comprehend something that does not have form. Hence so many different statues. It's like explaining with an example. So that even thick people can easily understand and relate to the concept of God.
  • Departmentalised approach: Not just that, Hinduism also has a separate God for each cause, like, for education it's Ganapati, Saraswati. For wealth its Lakshmi, Kuber etc. Having a hierarchy makes dealing with customer queries easier, that's corporate God! :)
  • Setting them apart: To set the Gods apart from people, each of them have some kind of abnormality; elephant head in case of Ganapati, snakes around neck for Shankar, four faces to Brahma...and many more.

Prove

I read somewhere once, a woman expresses and a man proves. So true, I thought to myself. Now as I am sat here, thinking about it, I feel this categorisation cannot be gender specific. It's just a quality, either you are like this or like that...
One of the occupational hazards of the rat race we all have to run is we get into this 'proving' mode so much so that it comes to us as second nature. Pure expression is limited only to those tranquil moments, when we are alone. Or worse still, while we stand there, staring at ourselves in the mirror, brushing, you are still thinking of point you want to prove in that meeting at 10am! We also learn to glorify it. Wow, am I driven or what!! Hang on, what about your time out dude?
As I say that, I don't mean to sound regressive, but just that it's a respite to be ourselves sometimes, without the innate need of being in Given: To prove: Proof: mode.

Horcruxes- Revisited

During my daily sorting-myself-out, combing through the chaos, I got a completely different interpretation of Horcruxes. Every time you cut something out of your life without a proper closure; it may be breaking up with a boyfriend or some work undone in the job you quit, you create a horcrux that's bound to haunt you forever.
No, this new thought didn't add another pound of meat to my ego-it just amazes me how written, spoken word has so many levels.
